Remember me? Arsenal Vs Villareal. Champions League Semi-final 1st Leg
European Cup Final - Arsenal vs FC Barcelona
Stade de France, Saint-Denis - 17th May 2006

Have I got some stories to tell about Paris!! Not for print though, but I'll tell you over a beer sometime!!!!

Had a fantastic time and met some fantastic people - Namely my Dutch Friends and I'll talk about them later.

The walk from the Station (Saint-Denis) to the Stadium

It was manic getting in to the stadium and someone got a spike in their leg trying to in over the fence - I didn't see this but some friends did and unbelievably I was chatting to a bloke in a bar at PSV Eindhoven who is mates with guy and was with him when he this happened!

Queuing to get into the ground

Got to the seats just as the match kicked off. Disappointedly my seat, and the two guys who I was with were the only ones in the whole Arsenal end that didn't have the yellow t-shirts on!!! Nicked by a fellow gooner - You know who you are!!

My seat at the match was: Sector Nord  Gate K Block K1 Row 1 Seat 6 (60 euros!).

View from my Seat (I hate running tracks)

Match started off very well, the confidence was beginning to come through but then caught on the counter attack DAMN! 1-nil down. No, disallowed, rejoice, praise the lord, Oh, hang on a minute whats the ref doing? Red card for Lehman, gutted. But ten men better than 1-nil against Barca right? It starts to rain.

Ronaldinho (The best in the world?)

Rain like I've never seen before. It doesn't help that I'm in the front row with no protection wearing shorts and my yellow arsenal away kit from Thailand - I don't think the 45 quid original would have made much difference!

The impossible dream happens - I can only see Sol jump and the net bulge. It's a miracle. Legend. What must then Yids be thinking! Half time comes. I'm off to the dry area inside. I notice the bar and get a beer. I thought Champions League games banned beer? Not in Paris - Result. I can even take it back to my seat.

Holding in there - under the cosh but defending like heroes. Barca substitution, don't know who went off but Larsson came on and the rest  is history. Wet, cold miserable journey back to the hotel in Paris. What else to do but go for a kebab and crash out. Ready for the long journey home from Paris to Amsterdam to London (Don't ask!). Glad I didn't get pissed too - I later heard the beer in the ground was alcohol free!
